Light Opera Club In "Wild Violets"
"Wild Violets" by Robert Stolz last night opened a weeks run by the Glasgow Light Opera Club in the Falcon Theatre, Glasgow. The music is attractive and the singing had freshness and charm, but what was lacking was a better sense of rhythm in the performance and colourful production.

The school girls - Liesel (Grace W. Leggatt), Mitzi (Joyce Crawford) - and the male students - Paul (George Watt), Otto (Jack Dunn), and Erik (Ernest L. Donaldson) - worked well together, singing and acting with good stage deportment. Augusta (Jean Squire) and Hans (Gerald McKeown) deserve a special word for their light comedy work. Madam Hoffman was played by Nesta Gildad.

The second act opened with a display by the Cowlairs Olympic Gymnastic Club, followed by some attractive dancing. Chorus and orchestra were under the direction of John Tweedie.
