NO UNLUCKY 13 FOR THE LIGHT
It is 13 years since the Glasgow Light Opera Club presented the "Desert Song."

Last night, tempting fate perhaps, at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, the gamble paid off, with their latest rendition of this well known musical.

Anne Ballantyne, making her debut as producer for Light, wisely kept to the original script and made no concessions to the present day. The production was all the better for it.

It was also debut night for the two principals, Kate McGhee and Ian Howie. They made an attractive couple, with equally attractive voices.

Allan McAllister was a winning Captain and Sheena Nelson and Gordon Crockert, revelled in the comedy roles - particularly in the "It" sequence where Alex Wallace's choreography shone.

Musical Director John Tweedie, took the orchestra and colourful chorus to a new high standard.
