Inspired
Merry Widow
at King's
Glasgow Light Opera Club follow last year's successful "Carousel" with an inspired production of Franz Lehar's "The Merry Widow," the last in a short season of amateur musicals at the King's Theatre, Glasgow.
Filled with gaiety and colour, the popular operetta has all the ingredients for a fine evening's entertainment. The superbly dressed show combines a high standard of singing, acting, and dancing.
Roslyn Taylor, in the title role, is a bewitching Widow, splendidly complimented by William Robertson - a handsome couple with voices to match.
Gordon Cochrane , Jan Gray , Bill Love, and Gordon Crockert have fine supporting roles.
Anne Ballantyne's dazzling production is well choreographed by Alex Wallace - the "Can Can" and "Women, Women, Women" are particularly effective - and John Tweedie is an excellent Musical Director.
The operetta continues at the King's until Saturday.
