Kiss Me, Kate!
Kiss Me Kate is a musical comedy in two acts based on "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare. Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter. (1947).
Essentially a play within a play, the action concerns the love-hate relationship between Fred Graham and his ex wife Lilli Vanessi. This tempestuous relationship spills over onto their stage production of "The Taming of the Shrew," with hilarious consequences. Sub plots involve other love affairs and gambling debts; enter the two gangsters, who, suddenly finding themselves on stage, beseech the audience to "Brush up Your Shakespeare."
